Why visit
Cyprus?
Welcome to Cyprus! An island of legends that basks year-round in the light of the warm Mediterranean sun. A storied past 10,000 years long has seen civilizations come and go and the likes of everyone from Alexander the Great to Cleopatra stake their claim here - but then, people do tend to get possessive when faced with such beauty.
A rich and varied schedule of festivals and other events makes this
island nation unique in the Mediterranean. Cyprus is proudly reclaiming
its ancient honour of being the birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite, and
even is offering a tasteful re-creation of her ancient rites. The
supreme goddess of love and beauty knew what she was doing when she
chose the lovely Cyprus as the site of her emergence from the seafoam.
Travelling to Cyprus is very easy. Most of the major airline companies
provide frequent flights, especially during the summer period.
Why
Alethriko?
Alethriko is an unspoilt, rural village surrounded by beautiful scenery.
It is in a valley, surrounded by pine trees, an ideal retreat for those
wanting to totally relax and escape. The village is reknowned locally
for it's panoramic views of the Cypriot countryside and tranquility
where only the birds singing breaks the silence.
The village
centre is only a short stroll away from the apartment where you will
find the locals in the coffee shop playing backgammon, a church, two
tavernas and a supermarket. For those who enjoy walking, there are
tracks leading up to the top of the hills of the valley, leading to a
breathtaking sea view to one side and panoramic vista over the valley to
the other side.
Surrounding villages of Kiti, Pervolia and
Anglisides have an abundance of amenities to offer and the nearest
beaches are only a 10 minute drive away.
The beauty of Alethriko
is that, whilst the village itself is so tranquil and idyllic, it is
only a 2 minute drive to the main motorway and centrally placed on the
island. Anyone wanting to explore the many things Cyprus has to offer
can do so with ease. The extensive amenities of Larnaca town centre are only 15 minutes away as is the airport. The capital of Cyprus, Nicosia is 40 minutes away (again with extensive amenities) with Limassol 25 minutes, Ayia Napa 45 minutes, the Troodos
Mountains 1 hour and Paphos 1hour 30 minutes away.
Two excellent
local tavernas are perfect for dining, situated within walking distance
of the apartment, these offer a range of meals including typical Cypriot
meze dishes.
Alethriko also has a bank and petrol station, as
well as a bespoke jeweller. The petrol station, when not fully open, has
24 hour self service facility using a credit card.
In the
neighbouring village of Anglisidies, 3 minutes from Alethriko, is in the
opposite direction to Larnaca. Here, you will find an excellent
butchers (open every day, including Sunday mornings), a substantial
bakery opposite the butchers (open til 22.00 every night), two
supermarkets and a greengrocers. There is a newly built supermarket
"Plus Discount" 200 metres walk from the apartment.
For major stores,
such as Carrefour, there are a number in Larnaca.
